Eposide 1:Sakina’s trip to *Land of the pure*

Day 1--1500hrs PST
She was suddenly jolted out of her sleep....she looked out the window and the plane was about to land. Her heart soared with elation...she was finally returning to Pakistan after so many years. "Finally", she thought, "I'll be able to blend in with my hijab and abaya!" With these thoughts she got off the plane...and started moving towards the exit, anxiously looking for her aunt and her family. She couldn't wait to meet her cousins.

Finally she spotted them, and stopped short with confusion in her mind. There they were, a women with blond streaked hair, glasses stuck on her head, and shalwar 3 inches above her ankles....with astonishment she turned towards her cousin...a slim girl wearing a short sleeveless shalwar kamiz. She looked around her in confusion thinking that did I really get of the right plane.

These thoughts were driven away from her mind when her aunt embraced her in a too tight hug and over powering perfume...Ooooh my sweet heart, janni how are you?!?!...is this really you?!?!...what is this you are wearing...aren’t you sooo hot in this thing....and this hijab...? What happened sweetheart did you join some islamic cult.

She was just about to answer to this bombardment of questions when she turned her attention to the snickering coming from behind her. She turned around just in time to hear her Cousin Ali saying to his sister, Saira in not such a low whisper...Oh!!! Look our ninja cousin is here.
To which Saira replied..."yea...man and here I thought she would be this cool young hip thing coming from America....oh, what a disappointment...and what am I going to say to all my friends...I had showed off so much about my cousin coming from America.

When both of them felt Sakina’s eyes on them....they stopped talking.

Ali: "Yo! ninj...err...I mean sakina wuzzup?!?!

Saira: "Oh hi sakina, how are you...did your flight detour to Afghanistan?"
And both started snickering again.

Sakina was absolutely dumbfounded into quietness by their rudeness and reaction. Even in America no one had so openly made such snide comments.
"What have I got myself into now." she sighed. And slowly with these thoughts in mind trudged forward with her bags.

  1. Pakistanis are a huge bunch of hypocrites. We criticize people around the world for their follies, yet turn a blind eye to whats happening right in front of us. May the Almighty Lord open our eyes to the truth, Amen.
