People are always pointing fingers at Islam and saying its such an old and impractical religion...how can it even help you in the modern 21st century. But now after studying business for 1 1/2 years i realize how far from the truth this statement is.
Whenever i sit in different course classes i can't help but be wonderfully surprised that half the theories, advice etc the management, brand, leadership et al gurus churn out are the same i have read in Islamic books or heard in majalis.
Below i am writing certain examples that i have practically come across:
In every class the teachers insist that a good communicator and a great leader is one who listens 90% of the time...now isn't that what we have been hearing esp. through a saying of Imam Ali(a.s) where he states that as someone's intellect increases he speaks less.
The other day our teacher was saying that non-verbal communication sometimes becomes so great that a leader and follower don't even need to communicate verbally but can just talk with their minds...AND here we are wondering how we can communicate with Imam-e-Waqt(ajtf) when we can't see him!
One marketing teacher was saying that feet can be a very attractive part of females and this point is actually exploited by marketers to advertise their products...So isn't that enough to make us understand why covering feet is part of shari`e pardah?!
One teacher was convincing the whole class that males and females are inherently different and that it has been proven scientifically...SO why do we find it so hard to digest, when Islam assigns different roles to both of 'em?!
Why is it so easy to believe the professor when he states that according to one behavior its the child's first few years that really form his/her personality BUT hard to understand when Islam tells us to mold our child's personality in the first few years and imbibe good Islamic values in him/her!
I think we really need to slip out of our stupor and try to realize the intellectual depth and richness we are provided with in the form of Holy Quran and Ahl-ul-Bait(s.a). If only we would have used this knowledge before it was converted and corrupted by all the unethical practices we wouldn't have to come up with terms like corporate social responsibility or end up with corporate scams and be bombarded with unethical marketing.
May Allah(swt) guide us all
Amen
